Participant FAQ

Can a relay team have less than five runners?

PDF Print Email

One runner can run multiple legs of the relay. However, each relay team must have at least three participants. The relay shuttle buses do not run between relay stations. They only run from Veteran's Park to their designated relay exchange station and back. Participants running multiple legs must run consecutive legs. For example a participant may run legs 2 and 3 but not legs 3 and 5.

Are strollers allowed in the races?

PDF Print Email

Strollers are only allowed in the Fun Run and they must start in the back of the race.

Can we keep our timing chip?

PDF Print Email

No. All timing chips must be returned at the end of the race. Failure to return timing chip will result in a $35 replacement fee, due no later than 30 days after the event

What do we do if one of our relay team members can not participate?

PDF Print Email

Relay teams may make substitutions to their team at the Health and Fitness Expo.

Can I wear my Chip on my number?

PDF Print Email

No! You must wear your chip on your shoe in order to be timed by the electronic timing system.  Refer to your race packet for chip instructions.  Relay runners should use the provided Velcro ankle strap, which will be passed from runner to runner.  The ankle should be worn ON THE ANKLE, as the name indicated.  Wearing your chip anywhere but on your shoe or on an ankle strap can lead to missed reads at the timing mats.

Will there be an early start for walkers?

PDF Print Email

No, we are sorry but for safety reasons we cannot offer an early start. There are areas of the course where there is nowhere to stay on the course and out of traffic with an early start. Anyone starting a race before the official start time will be disqualified.

What is the course time limit?

PDF Print Email

The course will remain closed to traffic for 6 1/2 hours.
The electronic timing system will remain open for 7 1/2 hours.
Everyone finishing in 7 1/2 hours will receive an official finishing time. We do not guarantee that the Gatorade medical aid stations will be open longer than the 15 minute per mile pace.

In the unlikely event you forget to bring your chip on race day, and do not have time before the start to retrieve your chip, please visit the information tent by the start line and see a race official.
