The board of directors of the Williams Route 66 Marathon proudly recognizes first-time marathoners with unique medals to commemorate this very important occasion. For 2010, Williams Route 66 Marathon will also recognize another special group of runners: members of the Marathon Maniacs and the 50 States Marathon Club.
"Members of these clubs are truly dedicated to the sport of running," said Chris Lieberman, executive director of Tulsa Route 66 Marathon, Inc. "These runners run multiple marathons in multiple states, sometimes back-to-back. As a marathon, we wanted to provide the members of these clubs with something special."
Marathon Maniacs and 50 Staters who run the 2010 Williams Route 66 Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, will be treated to special access of the Maniac Corner. The special area will include a members-only tent with VIP service including private gear-check, free food, Gatorade, water and Michelob Ultra.
Steve Yee, one of the Main Maniacs at Marathon Maniacs said, “we hope our members come to come share their race stories, socialize with new friends, talk about the marathon they will be running the following week and help to inspire any ‘Maniac wannabees’ that happen to venture near the tent and tell them how they too can get the coveted yellow singlet!”
As Andrew Readinger, a 50 States Club member from Dallas stated, “if you start the trend to get us 'VIP' status, I'm in!”
More details will come in the following months. To find out more about Marathon Maniacs and the 50 States Marathon Club, visit www.marathonmaniacs.com and www.50statesmarathonclub.com.
